Women Leaders: Dare to Build a Better Tomorrow

11:20 am - 12:20 pm
Atrio 1, santo domingo del cerro, antigua guatemala

The “glass ceiling” that limits women’s ability to reach executive roles is still incredibly difficult to break, particularly in Latin America. However, there are other, much more insidious internalized barriers that prevent women from reaching leadership positions, including self-censorship, concerns about the price they’ll pay, and the expectation that they will be required to implement a leadership model that doesn’t align with their values. When explaining why moving to the top of the career ladder is not an option for them, women often mention a negative association with ambition or power, the perception that success is “selfish," the idea that "moving up" means losing authenticity and freedom, and the feeling that only "superwomen" can make it happen. Are there other ways that women can perceive and achieve success?

This workshop will push back against these stereotypes and explore ways that other women have forged their own paths to professional success while staying true to themselves.
