ANA INÉS ÁLVAREZ

Executive Director of Fundación Avon Argentina

BIOGRAPHY
Ana is a Social Worker from the University of Buenos Aires. She joined the Avon Foundation in May 2016, as head of the Gender Violence Program and the Avon Foundation Award. In September 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, she became its Executive Director. In the different roles she has played in the foundation, her main contribution is based on the mobilization of projects, campaigns and alliances for the defense of women’s rights, with a special focus on access to health and a life free of violence. In this sense, some of the most outstanding projects have been the creation of the first Protocol and License for gender violence in the country in the private sector, awareness campaigns such as “Cambiá el trato” (Change the treatment) or the promotion of regional surveys such as the Public Opinion Survey on Breast Cancer. She served as national referent of the Civil Society, within the Spotligth Initiative, an initiative to end violence against women, promoted in Argentina by the United Nations and the European Union, between 2019 and 2023. She is also part of the Vital Voices Network, having participated in initiatives such as Voices Against Violence and the Global Freedom Exchange. Ana has more than 20 years of experience in the public and private social sector. Within her experience she stands out as a consultant and trainer on social issues, with special focus on gender issues, as well as a leader of multidisciplinary teams. Always mobilized by a firm, clear and always collective objective: to build a society with equality and opportunities for all people.
