BIOGRAPHY
Magdalena Coronel brings a wealth of experience spanning over 15 years in the realms of angel investing, venture capital, and investment banking across both the United States and Latin America. Her journey began as a Venture Capital Analyst at Prosperitas Capital Partners, a fund focused on nurturing early-stage tech companies located in Uruguay. Subsequently, she became VentureStart Program Manager at the Regional Technology Alliance in Sacramento, California and later took on the role of Director at the Institute of the Americas, where she was responsible for the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program. Magdalena lent her valuation expertise to Houlihan Lokey, where she diligently served clients from 2018 until her pivotal move to IDB Lab in December 2020 as a Senior Investment Officer. In this role, she led the direct equity arm of the Lab until assuming the role of Chief Investment Officer of IDB Lab in September 2021. Beyond this, Magdalena co-founded a robust angel investor network comprising 35 members, focusing on sourcing promising ventures from Argentina, Colombia, and Uruguay. Her commitment to fostering international collaboration was further underscored by her tenure as a Business Fellow under the aegis of Partners of the Americas and the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs in 2011. Ms. Coronel holds a B.A. in Economics from Universidad de la República Oriental del Uruguay, and a master’s degree in business and administration from NYU Stern.
