Founder, Sumatoria

Entrepreneur and impact investor. Specialist in Sustainable Finance and Innovation. Founder and CEO at Sumatoria & Co-founder at Beta Impacto VC. Matías Kelly is a prominent social entrepreneur and expert in social innovation and sustainable finance. His commitment to sustainable development, a strong track record as a social entrepreneur, and his strategic vision in the field have positioned him as a reference in social and environmental impact in Argentina and Ibero-America. Together with his team at Sumatoria, Matías drives the development of impact finance, through instruments, vehicles, and joint investment learning with positive social and environmental impact, aiming to lead the transition towards a sustainable financial model. His approach is based on the firm belief that transforming the way business is done in the world involves integrating social and environmental impact into decision-making. In line with this vision, in 2022, he co-founded Beta Impacto VC, an investment fund that supports innovative projects with sustainable and scalable business models, promoting a triple impact on the economic, social, and environmental fronts, generating benefits both financial and social in the communities where they operate. Before this, Matías Kelly forged his experience, first, as an entrepreneur, and later, within the public sector and in prominent Social Organizations where he held different strategic roles. Between 2013 and 2015, he was Director at Ashoka Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay, a global organization that promotes entrepreneurial culture and social innovation, and also led the Sistema B organization during 2015. Between 2015 and 2019, he joined the Ministry of Social Development of the Nation where he eventually served as Secretary of Social Economy, contributing to the development of policies to promote inclusive social and economic projects. In his trajectory as an entrepreneur, Matías co-founded and directed Solutions Logistics for 8 years, in the field of foreign trade, logistics, and international transportation. He also co-founded the Civil Association Nuestras Huellas, and the ENI (Inclusive Business Space of the Di Tella University). Both initiatives address topics such as financial inclusion, new economy, social development, and social finance. Committed to promoting sustainable finance and environmental education on impact issues, Matías teaches about investment and impact finance and social and popular economy at institutions such as the Austral University (Diploma in Circular Economy), at PINE (Diploma in New Economies 2023), among others. On this journey, he is accompanied – for years – by his core team: his partner Bárbara, and his two daughters Lucía and Ana.
