President of CILSA NGO For Inclusion and Ambassador for Peace

BIOGRAPHY

She has been president of the CILSA NGO since 2012. It works for the full inclusion of people with disabilities in situations of social vulnerability, being the first woman president of the
organization in its 58 years of existence. Silvia is 68 years old, uses a wheelchair and lives in the Federal Capital. At seven months she was diagnosed with poliomyelitis plus meningitis. She spent 90 days connected to a lung device that saved his life. Years later she underwent surgery at ALPI. At the age of six she was able to stand for the first time thanks to two prostheses, a corset and two crutches. Silvia attended elementary school in public schools and at home as a result of seven operations. Thanks to José León Suárez’s Rotary Club scholarship, she attended high school and completed it for free. Her disability does not prevent her from living a full life, enjoying her family, work and friends.
In 2014 was named “Outstanding Human Rights Personality” by the Legislature of the Autonomous City of Buenos
Aires. Also she received an awarded “Liga Pro-Human Behavior Award, for the Validity of Ethical and Spiritual Values; awarded by the Honorable Senate of the Argentine Nation, on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3, 2014.
